2025 Talking Opera

Joseph Colaneri, Music Director of the Glimmerglass Festival, will open the Guild’s Talking Opera series on Friday, May 30, 7 PM, at the Fenimore Art Museum, Cooperstown.  His program will be on Tosca and preparation to experience Puccini’s music and drama.  

Maestro is also conducting The Rake’s Progress this summer.  He will present a program about Stravinsky’s opera on Friday, June 13,  7 PM at the Fenimore Museum.  

Talking Opera will then move to the First Baptist Church, 21 Elm Street, Cooperstown with programs on, Sunday in the Park with George (Friday June 20, 7 pm),  the world premiere of The House on Mango Street (Monday June 30, 7 pm), and the restaging of  the youth opera, Odyssey (Monday July 7,  7pm).  Speakers will be announced at a later date.  

All events are free and open tothe public and both sites are mobility challengedaccessible.

Midwinter 2025 Talking Opera

Festival Artistic & General Director Rob Ainsley previews the Festival’s 50th Anniversary season for us at a midwinter Talking Opera program on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at 7 PM.

Springfield Concert and Picnic Event - July 6

Eat and Greet Welcome Party - TBD

Join fellow Guild Members as we welcome all those who come together to create the magic of the Glimmerglass Festival; artists, orchestra, craftspeople and support services. Prepare a casserole or salad to serve 20 and come to our much anticipated annual event. Contact Bill or Cynthia Goertemoeller, co-chairs of the Hospitality Committee.

A Day at the Festival for Students The Odyssey - Friday, August 8

A special day of programming for students and their chaperones who will attend the matinee. 10:00 AM arrival time for the pre-performance program. 11:30 AM lunch provided. 1:00 PM performance. The seats are located in the balcony. Free Admission to the Day at the Festival for Students. For information contact Kathy Eisele. 50th Anniversary Guild Gala & Live & Silent Auctions - Tuesday, August 12

Join us for a night of celebration at the Otesaga Hotel. Silent and Live Auctions, a luxurious dinner and entertainment by the Young Artists comprise this evening of fun and fundraising.
